KJF Partners Kalabari Se Kpangi On Education

In a bid to improve the performance of Kalabari children in the educational sector, the ‘Kalabari Journalists Forum’ [KJF] and the Kalabari Se Kpangi of the Ijaw Youth Council have organized an essay writing and quiz competition among schools at the Local Government Headquarters.
In an interview with the Chairman Kalabari Se Kpangi, Comrade Sobrasua Odum, he said the programme will enhance kalabari children’s knowledge at the rural areas to compete favorably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
Comrade Odum, who was conferred with an award of ‘Peace Crusader’ by the KJF on Monday 21st January 2013 in Port Harcourt also said that he dedicated the award to all kalabari youths, adding that the era of militancy is gone, that now is time for intellectual war.
Speaking the Media/Publicity Secretary, Mr. Somina Wokoma and Treasurer, Mr. Clinton Horsfall in their separate speeches thanked Almighty God for honouring its chairman, Comrade Odum, adding that the organization will not disappoint KJF. They assured that they are ready to work to achieve set goals and move the Kalabari Kingdom forward.
Earlier, in his speech, the KJF President, Mr. Damiete West called on all Kalabari youths to join hands with the Chairman to take the kingdom to the next level.
Mr. West said barely five years ago, communities in Kalabari Kingdom were sacked due to the activities of militancy and unprofitable ventures, until Comrade Odum took over the mantle of leadership of IYC last year when peace was restore in the areas.
The KJF boss described Odum as the’ Peace Crusader’ who brought total peace through his leadership style in the communities. He said Odum has excellent vision and mission whose policies and activities have positive impact on the lives of the youths of Kalabari ethnic nationality.
Those who made the award presentation successful include ‘National Executive Council Members,’ Deputy National President, Asimiea Amachree; Iyalla Adaye, National Publicity Secretary; Omubo Briggs, National Secretary; National Treasurer, Miss Nancy Briggs; IYC members and newsmen amongst others.
