RSIEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Ahiamadu, Councillors

Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has issued certificate of return to the newly elected chairman and councilors of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Commission has also presented certificate to councilors who were elected during the re-run election in five wards, including Ahoada East, Eleme, Asari Toru, Etche and Khana LGAs.

The ceremony took place at the commission’s office, in Port Harcourt.

Presenting the certificates to the newly elected chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, Dr. Austine Ahiamadu on behalf of the councilors, the chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Augustine Ahiauzu, congratulated the winners of the various wards and expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election, thanking God the for mercy.

According to him, “I and members of the commission were physically present at the elections venues at ONELGA and the re-run elections and we expressed satisfaction with RSIEC have spent human and materials resources to ensure that we do what is expected of us from our people without fear or favour and without the control of anybody”.

Prof. Ahiauzu commended the staff of the commission, especially the Adhoc Staff and the press for a job well done.

The former Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology charged the newly elected chairman and councilors of the circumstances surrounding the ONELGA election and re-run elections, tasking them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their people.

He further advised them to represent their people well and be accountable to the people.

In his response, Dr. Ahiamadu, the newly elected chairman of ONELGA who spoke on behalf of the councilors described the last Saturday councillorship election in ONELGA as most peaceful, in the history of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and promised to bring a change with the collaboration of his councilors and the support from the people of ONELGA. He expressed gratitude to God, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the people of ONELGA. ###
