RIVLEAF Visits Ogoni

 

The Rivers Leadership Advancement Foundation, RIVLEAF over the weekend visited some local government areas in Ogoni land of Rivers State for inauguration of its LG chapters.

The event which was held at the Anglican Cathedral Bori, Ogoni was used to make strong statement for what the organization represent.

In his opening remark, the chairman of the occasion Hon. Austine Wako special Assistant to the governor commended the leadership of the organization for bringing all the past student leaders under an umbrella to bring about quality leadership anywhere they find themselves.

Hon. Wako said if former student leaders who held different positions in their university or colleges and polytechnic days can come together then it would be a force to be reckon with socially and politically and thank the leaders of the organization for brining the people of Ogoni on board.

Earlier, the president of RIVLEAF Chief Hon. Alex Weli commended the good people of Ogoni for their support for RIVLEAF and their loyalty to the government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi who is the grand patron of the body as a former president of National Association of Nigerian students (NANS).

Hon. Weli who is also a special Assistant to the governor maintain that every RIVLEAF members has a quality of leadership in him having exhibited same while in school.

The president of RIVLEAF told the people of Ogoni not to worry about the recent court judgment by an Abuja federal High Court sacking Chief G. U. Ake led PDP executive in the state.

RIVLEAF president said he believe that the court of Appeal will upturn the case in favour of Chief G.U. Ake when the time comes.

He charged Ogoni people to be steadfast and position themselves so that they can lead the state in the near feature.

In their different solidarity speeches, Chief Mike Baa, Chief Andy Woye former NOA Director Rivers State and Chief Victor Ikpor said the formation of RIVLEAF is very important because what the country need is good and quality leadership and members of this organization has what it takes to be leaders in different positions in the state.

In their various acceptance speeches after inauguration the chairman of Gokana, Hon. Pius Dukor, Khana, Barr. Godson Tanam and Tai LGA Barr. Emmanuel Kirikiri pledged to work with the constitution of RIVLEAF. ###
