Rivers State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Chuma Chinye has advised Market Associations in the State to join co-operative societies in order to access Government loan.
Mr. Chinye gave the advice recently, when the Executives of Association of Traders, Farmers, Artisans and Market leaders paid him a courtesy call in his office.
He urged them to identify themselves with the Nigerian Association of small scale industrialist (NASSI) and the Rivers State Co-operative movement, and said that Rivers State Micro Finance Agency (RIMA) is ready to give loan to interested groups.
The Commissioner advised the Association not to work in isolation, but that they should come together to form a bigger and strong group with initiative that will attract Government’s attention.
Earlier in her speech, the State President of Association of Traders, Farmers, Artisans and Market leaders of Nigeria, Lady Roseline Jonathan on behalf of the Association thanked the Commissioner for the audience.
Lady Jonathan who described their visit as a true reflection of the assembly, said the Association is an NGO that operates in all the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
She called for Government’s support for her Association in the area of provision of office space.
Lady Jonathan assured that they are ready to register their members into co-operative societies.
