Supervisory Appointment: PHALGA Screens Out Ihunwos Nominee

Reports at The Newswriter’s disposal indicate that a candidate for supervisory position in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Council and alleged nominee of the purported anti-Amaechi lawmaker, Hon. Victor Ihunwo was rejected and screened out by the legislative assembly recently.

The lawmaker representing Port Harcourt Constituency III in the Rivers State House of Assembly Hon. Victor Ihunwo was given a supervisory slot by the mayor of Port Harcourt city council, Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo.

But facts emerged that because of Ihunwo’s stance against the mayor and governor Amaechi, in the ongoing Rivers political crisis his nominee amongst the eleven candidates for the supervisory positions in the council was later withdrawn.

Ihunwo’s nominee was substituted with one Mr. Wali Ikeka Wonodi, a younger brother and nominee of the State Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Owene Wonodi.

The rejected nominee was the former ward 10 chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

Our source, who pleaded anonymity said though the Thursday 25th July, 2013 sitting of the legislative house which had the screening and approval of Mr. Wali Wonodi as a supervisor in the council, was done in accordance with the chairman’s directive, but not to the satisfaction of all lawmakers.

Victor Ihunwo is one of the five state lawmakers opposed to the leadership of the State House of Assembly and Gov. Rotimi Amaechi.  All efforts to reach the Mayor hit the brick wall even as his press officer was not of reach.###
