OPM Faults Pastors For Acquiring Illicit Wealth, Neglecting Poor Members

The General Overseer of the Omega Power Ministry, Apostle Dr. Chibuzor G. Chinyere has faulted men of God who acquire wealth for themselves and forget caring for the poor members in the church.

The Apostle declared and described such attitude as wickedness in the land, saying that the accumulated wealth came from the congregation and so the money must not be used by the pastor alone.

The man of God said this in his separate speeches in the services held at 52 Harold Wilson Drive and 143 Victoria Street, Branches of the Omega Power Ministry during their one year anniversary.

He explained that it was wrong for a person who call himself man of God to use members tithes and offering to buy aircraft and continue to pay N3000,000 for packing space per day in the airport when poor women who brought the money have not eaten.

He wondered how they will continue to spend such amount of money and come back to church on Sunday to solicit for more money, and call for a change of attitude.

Chibuzor further condemned the act of building schools with church money, yet with higher school fees, making only children of the rich to benefit from the sound education going on in the schools while children of the poor suffers in school or drop out.

He equally frowns at those using the money to buy estates for themselves as well as investing the money on personal business.

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere who enjoins his pastors to emulate his styles said that he uses the money for the betterment of the poor, pointing out how he build houses for the poor, empowering them, and roll out numerous skills in which he trains the people free of charge.

He also pointed out the free boutique and restaurant opened by OPM for the people to eat free, shop their wears free, as well as free schools scattered over the places by the ministry saying that all is to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. He said it  is a scriptural instruction that the poor should be taken care of in the ministry. OPM, the man of God said is on a mission of restoring destiny of people adding that his ministry has opened computer training center in Elele prison, where prisoners are trained on computer to enhance their usefulness to the society on completion of their terms.

He explained that many ex-convicts went back to prison because they do not have anything doing when they came out of prison but by this gesture they will fit into the society as they are freed and said “When you come to OPM your life must change”.

In his reponse to the welcome address presented by the Victoria branch, the man of God promised borehole to the church which he said work will commence soon and free tailoring training with assurance of sewing machine at the completion of the training.

Speaking to newsmen immediately after the service, the host pastor, Evang. Godwin Ezechukwu said that the church is fast growing as the church in one year of its existence could not accommodate them pointing out that there is hope for a larger space and advised members not to concentrate on material things but have hope in God for their salvation. ###
