Team Rivers Commences Camp For Paradise Game 2014

SPORT COMMISSIONER RIVIn preparation for 2014, 19th National sports festival, Team Rivers has started it camping 21st of May as to have a good preparation in earnest to successfully defend her position in the log over the years.
According to the Commissioner for Sport, Rivers State, Hon. Fred Igwe said Rivers State is prepared to have a good show in the national sports meet come November, 2014 at Calabar. Even as some athletes are crying foul that the Rivers State government has not treated them well in terms of their salaries and allowances packages.
To this effect, The Newswriter sports spoke with reliable award winning gold medal athletes who have made the state proud in the past two national sports festivals, namely 17th and 18th National Sports Festivals respectively.
Saying that they will no longer compete for Team Rivers as the state care not of their welfare, as it is, Team Rivers may double her effort to maintain her status in the national log table else the story may not be a good one to tell at the end of paradise game in Calabar.
Few of the contractor coaches, The Newswriter sports spoke with also confirmed that they are being owed 8 months salaries even as they are going into camping in preparation for paradise Games at Calabar November, 2014.
The expectation for camping is to prepare in earnest so as to have a good result at the end of it all. But with the impending collapse of faith in their status to represent Team Rivers as they have said, that they will no longer compete for Team Rivers come November, 2014 at Calabar paradise Games, what fate for Team Rivers?
A visit to the sports ministry is always greeted from the commissioner for sports, there is no money, money has not been released, that for those who have done one or two things with the sports ministry is waiting for their payment to be effected.
It would be recalled that most of the personnels making the sports ministry their working office every week are doing so because of the money owed them by the Rivers State government some are frustrated as the news they are always being told is there is no money, money has not been released.
Meanwhile, the job or task has been executed last year, and under normal circumstance they are supposed to have been paid long ago that same last year.
The Amaechi led administration will leave office come may 2015 just 10 months away from this year, what will happen to all those being owed by the sports ministry? ###
