Nationwide Doctors Strike RSG Provides Palliative Measures

SAMPSON PARKERAs the nationwide strike by the Nigerian Medical Association begins, the Rivers State Government has announced a palliative measures directing all Medical emergencies to be handled by the Memoranda of Understanding hospitals.

The directive was given by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tamunoiyonari Sampson Parker that all free medical patients who booked for caesarean sections would be handed by the MOU hospitals.

According to Dr. Parker, all Primary Healthcare Centres will remain open to carry out immunization services and other screening activities throughout the duration of the strike.

He further directed and advised members of the public to use the GSM No. 08033104730 and 112 in the any case of medical emergencies.

The MOU hospitals include, Military Hospital, Aba Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers-Side Hospital, Harbour Road, Princess Medical Centre Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, Prince Medical Consultants Rumuogba Port Harcourt, First Gate Dental Centre, Old GRA, Atinu Medical Care Elelenwo, Port Harcourt and Kelsey Harrison Hospital in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

It would be recalled that Rivers State Government had signed a Memoranda of Understanding with the MOU hospitals to handle all medical emergencies during this period of crisis, therefore the public is advised to take the palliative measures provided by the Rivers State Government with seriousness and avail themselves for medical treatment during the strike. ###
