2015 APC Candidacy: Governor Amaechi Anoints Deputy

The popular maxim “the patient dog eats the fatest bone”, is about to come to fruition in Rivers State as the race to the Brick House hots up when the ever silenced, humble, calculative and adjudged, most humble deputy governor, Eng. Tele Ikuru is about to reap the fruit of humility by stepping into the shoes of his boss, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotmi Amaechi.

Insider sources within the Rivers State Government House popularly known as Brick House who pleaded anonymity posits that the deputy governor who has been quiet for a long time may be blessed by his immediate boss judging from the body language of the governor.

According to the sources, Governor Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, may zero into selection of its gubernatorial candidate through consensus approach instead of the competitive primaries.

But political pundits say the pressure from the Kalabari and Ogoni axis of the state had confused the governor more on the choice of his successor prior to his recent body language indicating his deputy as the preferred successor.

On the modality to be applied to sink other interested aspirants and ethnic devides, the sources recalled the governor’s usual ways, saying that once his decision is communicated to the party there would be no objection except defection to other deadly parties, the source said.

It would be recalled that the deputy governor, Ikuru has never indicated interest via any public event as portraying having ambition for the plump job but he was however mentioned in several media as eyeing the number one seat of the state.

The silence of the Andoni born Engineer turned Politician suggests many reasons to several persons but he has remain focused.

Meanwhile, the Dakuku Peterside and Senator Magnus Abe’s camp are relentlessly working to ensure they are the governor’s choice, but if the information at The Newswriter’s disposition is anything to go by then the top most contenders of the political position in APC in the state may either pitch their tenth with the Labour Party and or return to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP. ###
