Rivers PDP: N1.6bn Bribe, Contracts Scam Rock Guber Aspirants

OBUAHTension is high within and outside the political terrain in Rivers State as November 29, 2014 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary comes closer.

No fewer than twenty (20) gubernatorial aspirants have indicated interest to gun for the prestigious Brick House on the PDP platform come 2015.

Last Thursday, a social-political group which calls itself, “Rivers Mainstream Coalition”, organized a mega rally at the popular Elekahia Stadium in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area. The main aim of that mega rally was to disorganize the gubernatorial ambition of the former Supervising Minister of Education, Chief (Barr.) Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike. The erstwhile Federal Minister the group believed is causing political obstacle for the actualization of an Ijaw governor in Rivers State, hence there is a gang up by sixteen (16) gubernatorial aspirants against Chief Wike.

No doubt, Chief Wike has a support of some many prominent Ijaw leaders, including Chief Ferdinand Alabraba. However, information reaching our political desk revealed that the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Mrs. Patience Jonathan has allegedly invited some of the gubernatorial aspirants to Abuja and offered them N100m each to step down from the race. Many of the aspirants as we are gathered accepted the offer placed before them by the First Lady.

This publication was reliably informed that, some of the aspirants were also promised contracts award in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other federal parastatals and agencies.

As at the time of filing in this report dependable sources informed our political correspondent, that most of gubernatorial aspirants have concluded plans to step down for the former Federal Minister, Chief Barr. Wike. If this happens, the coast is now cleared for Chief Wike to move into the Brick House unhindered. ###
