Rivers Angels Shame RSG, Lift Double Without Salaries

GOV. AMAECHIThe Rivers Angels female football club of Port Harcourt has shamed the Rivers State Government who wanted to put the girls in a disgraceful history as the government deliberately refused to pay the female footballers their eleven (11) month salaries.

Rivers Angels despite the state government action went on with empty stomach to lift the Nigerian women federation cup and the Nigeria Professional Women Football League.

The Amaechi led government is the sole sponsor of Rivers Angels and two other male football clubs, Sharks and Dolphins football clubs.

The sad development affected Dolphins and Sharks that both teams lost concentration in the matches in the league and could not maintained what is expected to their statues in the final days of the league.

Dolphins lost concentration at the defence and lost to Enyimba of Aba after the players played the best game of their lives.

Sharks on their own part went on losing spree after waiting for the promises of all that matters in government that promised them saying their salaries will be paid to them.

Infact, the deputy governor of the state went a step further in telling the players to go to the bank with his words that in two weeks they will get their money, this turned out to be empty promise as the players went on borrowing without receiving their salaries.

Sharks for not training for weeks, paid the price by losing to Taraba to help the visiting team escape relegation.

Rivers Angels were indeed lucky to have chunk of Falcons players and technical adviser of Falcon in the saddle to outwit their opponents in all games to win the two trophies using unity, discipline, hard and experience to their advantage to shame the Rivers State government who starved the girls.

Rivers Angels have proven that with God on their side, added to discipline, experience and hard word the sky is their limit. ###
