CATEL Allstars Celebrates 10th Anniversary

CARTELCatel Allstars football club of Port Harcourt on 13th of December, 2014 celebrated her 10th anniversary of existence with friends and associates, amongst Allstars football clubs.

To mark the 10th anniversary, four (4) Allstars football clubs were invited to play a one day four soccer tournament.

Liverpool, Bolton, Port Harcourt international Allstars alongside Catel Allstars football club, the host.

Port Harcourt international Allstars won the first place and carted away one hundred thousand naira (N100,000), in addition with the only trophy of the tournament. Bolton became the 2nd place team while Catel maintained the third place.

Three distinguished Awards were introduced to immortalized Hon. Tonye Ezekiel Harry for the highest goal scorer award (most valuable player) with N30,000 (thirty thousand naira).

Tonye of Port Harcourt International Allstars won that award. Best goalkeeper Sele Edo Award N20,000 (twenty thousand) was won by Smith Akalogu of Liverpool Allstars, the last award of fair play was won by Catel Allstars football club and was dedicated to Tonye Harry while that particular award was done in respect of Tamie Iniworikabo. All awardees went home N30,000, N20,000 and N10,000 respectively.

The chairman of the occasion Boma Iyaye, former Commissioner of Sports Rivers State commended the chairman of Catel Allstars football club, Alhaji Sanni Okiri saying he has done well to have kept the club with his assistance together uptil ten years.

He pointed out that Catel on their 10th anniversary is made up of men of vision, men of age and have succeeded in engaging men to giving charity works in the society, visitation to less privileged homes, hospitality, assisting of the needy.

He prayed that God will reward Catel Allstars football club. He also donated one hundred thousand naira to Catel as to assist the Catel in appreciation of their good noble gesture of assisting the less privileged ones in the society.

Hon. Boma Iyaye was also awarded and honoured for assisting Catel when he was a commissioner of Sports, Rivers State.

It would be recalled that Catel Allstars football club came into existence with just 6 friends who felt the dire need of physical fitness and decided to put their thoughts to action in form of a fitness challenges in April 10, 2014.

Initial referred to as G6 and blossomed to be referred to as G13 which today has become the nucleus of the club. ###
