Rivers: Better Days Await Health Information Managers

HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGERS FLOWINGBetter days now await the members of the Rivers State chapter of the Health Information Managers Association of Nigeria.

The Association in the State last week elected executive officers that will pilot its affairs for the next two (2) years. The election which took place at the Rivers State College of Health and Technology, Port Harcourt attracted people from all walks of life including lecturers, public administrators and students, amongst others.

At the end of the election, Nwialu Christian E. emerged as the Chairman, while Bob Manuel Limejuicaba was elected as the Vice Chairman.

Other officers elected are: Eze Allwell Kelechi (secretary), Omah Philip Francis (Financial Secretary), Dokubo Ibiene (Treasurer), Wosu Sylvanus (PRO), Ure Agi (Welfare Officer), and Bille Tamuno-tonye Waite as an Organizing Secretary.

The election result was announced by the chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Theophilus Taribo.

Other members of the electoral committee include: Dcns Ibiba D. Robison (secretary), Kingsley Ubani, Obugo Onyekachi and Comfort Pepple.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the election the newly elected chairman of the state chapter of the Health Information Managers Association of Nigeria (HIMAN), Nwialu promised to take the association to the next level. He said he will do this by frequently organizing seminars and workshops for members to build their professional skills. He further promised that his administration would work assiduously to ensure that the association takes its rightful place in the state.

In their separate speeches, Mrs. Stella Jamaica, the Director School of Health Information Management in the Rivers State College of Health and Technology, Nkegha Davies, Asst. Deputy Director, Rivers State Hospital Management Board, and Chief Anthony Barisua Deemua, Co-ordinator the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Medical Records, felicitated with the newly elected officers of HIMAN. They expressed explicit confidence on their leadership by taking the association to the next level, and called on all members of HIMAN to give the new officers the necessary support for them to succeed. ###
