Ikwerre LGA Chairman Urges Councillors To Be Dedicated To Duties

The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Bestman Amadi has charged thirteen councilors of the LGA to be dedicated to their duties and serve the people they represent with the fear of God.

Hon. Bestman Amadi gave the charge during the swearing in of the newly elected 13 councillors of Ikwerre LGA at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre LGA.

According to him, “you are the eyes of the All progressives Congress, APC as well as the eye of your people you represent in the LGA, you were all choosing based on the regard they have for you and what is bestowed on you, whatever you do represent the image of Ikwerre LGA so humble yourselves and do what is expected of you as the political leaders of your LGA”.

Hon. Amadi further urged them to enact bye laws that will benefit the people they represent assuring that he will work with them as a team to facilitate the desire of their people.

According to him, the main focus of the administration is peace and security because development cannot drive where there is violence but government can only succeed where there is peace and security of lives and properties in any society, so we will run an inclusive government carry everyone along in the scheme of things and expects advice from people of the LGA.

He, however called on stakeholders Chiefs and elders of the area to give advice where necessary to move the LGA forward.

Hon. Amadi who assured the people of LGA that APC will have Ikwerre LGA completely soon, advised youths who carry guns to drop their guns and be ready to acquire skills that will enable them be reliance.

Hon. Amadi who used the occasion to dissolve the former Caretaker Committee administration promised to commence the payment of bursary allowances to students of Ikwerre LGA extraction in the tertiary institutions.

In an interview with journalists, Hon. Amadi who noted that the incoming administration in Rivers State has threatened to dissolve the council executives assured the people of the LGA that his government will resist such attempt as well as resist impunity of the incoming administration and promised to work as a team to embark on people oriented projects.

In his hand over note, Hon. Wabueze Amadi the outgone CTC chairman of Ikwerre LGA while congratulating the new elected chairman and councilors of the LGA expressed optimism that they will perform creditably.

Speaking on behalf of the 13 councillors, Mr. Precious Ezeocha assured that they will work with the chairman to enable them succeed. ###
