Wike Will Not Dissolve Rivers’ Council – Akarolo

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded local government election in the Port Harcourt City Local Government (Phalga), Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo said the incoming government of Barr. Nyesom Wike, the governor elect will not temper with the LGA system.

Hon. Akarolo dropped the hint as he addressed journalists shortly after he received his Certificate of Return from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

The Phalga chairman said Barr. Wike is the product of the local government system and will not do anything to temper with the system that made him who is today.

He stated that the governor elect was a former ALGON chairman and will not dissolve the local government councils that election has been concluded.

The Mayor of Port Harcourt maintained that local government is more than friendship and that no leader will like to destroy the grassroots which is close to the people.

Hon. Akarolo stated that he will develop the LGA through empowerment and programmes such as capital development.

The Mayor has earlier described the local government election of last Saturday as credible, free and fair devoid of vote snatching and very peaceful.

The PHALGA chairman said this is one of the most peaceful elections in the state, as people voted and their votes count.

The second tenure Mayor described the election as credible despite the heavy down pour that trailed the election during the Saturday’s election which resulted in delay of distribution of materials.

On why some political parties refused to participate, he stated that those parties were afraid because they will not be able to win, as in the case of the governorship election noting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party to beat. ###
