Etche: Man Landed In Court For Alleged Kidnap

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reserved ruling to Thursday, July 23, 2015 on a matter that was brought before it which alleged that one 37 years old Onyebuchi Amandu and others at large did kidnapper one Nweke Gift with rope tied on the victims both hands and legs and was set free after a ransom of N1.5million was paid.

The same accused and other at large also attempted to murder one Nweke Lawrence by cutting his head with machete and willfully damaged his household property valued at N25million at Umuchinna, Umuebo, Akwu-Obour in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

In a six count charge, leveled against Amandu and others, count two also said the accused did stole logs of felled Oshisuiku trees valued at N2.5million belonging to Onyedi Nweke.

According to a charge number PMC/579c/2015: That you Onyebuchi Amanda ‘m’ and other now at large did kidnap one Nweke Gift (m) and tied him with ropes on both hands and legs and collected the sum of N1,500.00.00 (one million, five hundred thousand naira) before he was released and thereby commit an offence punishable under section 364 (2) of the criminal code cap 37 vol. 11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

The charge further said; “that you Onyebuchi Amandu ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date and place did willfully and unlawfully damage household properties valued at twenty five million naira (N25million) properties of Mr. Nweke Lawrence ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 451 of the criminal code cap 37 vol. 11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria”, among others. ###
