Bonny/Nembe Jetty Users, Expectant For God Rescue Through Wike

Users of Bonny/Nembe jetty are indeed passing through difficult times accessing their states and local government areas, as many causalities have been registered in their bid to travel to their country home.
The Newswriter in it quest to ascertain the prevailing circumstances surrounding the jetties anchored the two heads of Bonny/Nembe waterside.
First was Jumbo Henry, the Beach master of Bonny Marine Association who disclosed that indeed the Bonny people are suffering as this is the only means of transport to Bonny.
According to him all attempt to get the government attention concerning alleviating their plights in fixing the jetty for them have proved abortive.
“it is quiet unfortunate that most time it is Bonny sons that were appointed Commissioners for Transport, which would be an advantage for the Bonny man too but always work against them, as nothing is done on the jetty till such government will leave office.
Indeed, many have been injured, many maimed and what have you.
He disclosed further that many steps have been taken to enable the Bonny man have a good jetty from the government and well to do with individuals of Bonny origin but to no avail.
The soft spoken beach master said, he is appealing to the Wike led government to come to their aid. He said, he needs just slight dredging and a jetty to be fix for us by the government and “we have done”.
For the chairman of Nembe Water Jetty, David Teke who spoke with our reporter, revealed that, four states are making use of the jetty and not four local government councils.
He lamented the suffering his people are going through in that jetty. He said, he had personally taken people to hospital for treatment because of the bad jetty in two occasions.
He pointed out that what the state government is doing in the upland concerning transport, the Nembe jetty is small, if the government fixes it, it will last up to 15 to 20 years.
Saying if governor could fix this jetty he has saved the suffering users of Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Delta States.
He pinpointed that the only person who had the mind of fixing it was former military Administrator of Delta state, Navy Commandor Water Feghabo, whose administration was suddenly truncated.
“We have seen the good works of Wike, and if he contests election 10 times Wike will win. He commended Wike for alleviating the plights of Rivers people noting that his association are in solidarity with the governor and believes that God will fix the jetty for them through Wike.
Mr. David Teke also disclosed to The Newswriter that, they are praying Wike to be back on seat as the governor of Rivers State, where they will carry out a peaceful protest to present their jetty case to him, hoping he will hear them because he (Wike) has demonstrated compassionate for the people. ###
