The Buguma Council of Chiefs is preparing for a showdown with the former chairman of the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Of recent the Buguma Chiefs Council had gang up with the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Mr. Soboma Jackrich, alias Egberpapa against the ex-council boss, Ojukaye Flag Amachree for supporting the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The attitude of the chiefs has given the indigenes of the community much concerned. The Buguma chiefs accused the members of the Asalga APC of formenting troubles in the area.
Besides that the Buguma Council of Chiefs had condemned Mr. Flag Amachree’s attitude for illegal sale of community land, adding that the ex-council chairman carted away the power generating set belonging to the community without the knowledge of the chiefs.
Earlier this week, the chiefs were threatening of instituting a legal action against Flag-Amachree for calling them, “Pay As You Go Chiefs”.
The chiefs demanded apology from the ex-Asalga chairman or prepare to meet them in court.
Due to the “childish behaviour” of some chiefs in the council, Mr. Flag Amachree described them as “lover of money than the community”.
The frequent romance with Egberipapa by some chiefs of the community had thrown their integrity to the dog.
“Some of these people are not fit to be in the Chiefs Council. They have very long throat that need to be tamed”, a chieftain of APC told our correspondent.
In his recent interview, Hon. Fred Horsfall blasted the chiefs council for taking side in the matter that they are less concerned. He said that the chiefs are the problems facing the community because of their insincerity and selfish gain.
He recalled that few years back because of the lopsided thinking of the chiefs, Buguma community was thrown into darkness, where so many people lost their lives and properties. ###
