Can The New Rivers CP Combat kidnapping, Killings and Cultism?

Despite the efforts put in place by Governor Nyesom Wike to tackle insecurity in the state, cultists are still causing havoc in the different parts of the twenty-three (23) LGAs. No day passes in Rivers State without violence or killings.

Cultism and communal clashes have caused so much trouble in the state. The residents are living in fears, and panic as no one  knows what will happen next.

The former Rivers Police Commissioner, Musa Kimo had very tough times while serving in the state due to increasing rate of violence and hooliganism.

On Tuesday, Foluso Adebanjo resumed office as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers. He took over from Musa Kimo. While addressing newsmen the new CP appealed for cooperation; and assured the people that he will put in place virile and sustained security equipment that will reduce crime in the state.

No doubt CP Adebanjo will meet a lot of challenges as he assumes office ranging from cultism, violence, killings to gangsterism. Now that Rivers has a new CP, the question arises: Can CP Adebanjo combat crime?

As an experienced police officer, we believe that Adebanjo will do better by fighting indiscipline among some officers and crime in the state.

We congratulate CP Adebnajo as he assumes office and pray God to give him the needed wisdom to carry out his statutory functions.

Adebanjo assumed duty on Tuesday as the state’s 36th Commissioner of Police.

The new police Chief who holds Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Criminology/Criminal Justice Administration and Management from the University of Central Oklahoma, United States of America, is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos in Plateau State.

Before his deployment to Rivers, he has served in various capacities in the force; he was in the recent past the Commissioner of Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal (Anti-Bomb), Force Headquarters, Abuja and Commissioner of Police Edo State Command and later posted as Commissioner of Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja.###
