Akulga: Abonnema, Obonoma May Go To War Over Land Encroachment

The Obonoma community in Akuku Local Government Area is alleging that the people of Abonnema are encroaching on their land. The community also accused them of land grabbing.

This was made known when some youths of Obonoma community stormed our corporate office on Monday. The youths who spoke through one Comrade Olunta expressed anger the way and the manner in which, the people of Abonnema occupying their land illegally.

According to the youth, the Akulga council secretariat is built on their land, and demanded renaming of the secretariat to reflect “Obonoma” whose land it is situated.

The youths further noted that so many government facilities in the LGA are on their land without compensation and recognition. They alleged that, the community has been relegated to the background.

The Obonoma youths stated categorically that they would no longer fold their hands seeing the Abonnema taking their land away, saying that if the land grabbing continues they would not be happy with the people of Abonnema town.

The youths, however sent a passionate appeal to the relevant authorities to quickly intervene before the Abonnema Community takes all their land from them.  ###
