Crisis: INC President Sacked

OBUOFORIBOThe crisis rocking the frontline and prominent socio-cultural group in the Niger Delta region known as Ijaw National Congress INC has taken a fresh dimension on Tuesday when a faction existing within the Congress reaffirmed the indefinite suspension of the President of the INC, Chief Boma Obuoforibo.

According to the faction, Chief Boma Obuoforibo was placed on suspension due to the way and the manner in which he was handling the affairs of the INC. The faction noted with regret that the embattled President of the INC is not initiating ideas and programmes that are pushing the Congress forward, hence the association is being stagnated for long time.

The factional group opposing the INC President alleged that Obuoforibo has caused cracks in the Ijaw National Congress, thereby creating several and different divisions, which are not healthy to the development of the association.

The group maintained that any attempt to allow Obuoforibo to continue as the President of INC, the entire Congress will be grounded, thus the INC will go into oblivion.

The faction questioned the rational behind Chief Obuoforibo still parading himself as the President of the prestigious INC, hence described his action as illegal.

They called on all levels of government, corporate bodies and other relevant authorities not to have any dealing with Obuoforibo as the President of INC.

In a recent press statement issued by one Chief Williams Mkpah said that the purported suspension of INC was illegal, null, void and of no effect. The statement advised all Ijaws sons and daughters to disregard the purported suspension.

All efforts to contact the “suspended” INC President proved abortive as his mobile cell phones was switched-off.###
