NUJ ZONE F, SOUTH-SOUTH NIGERIA ZONAL MEETING HELD IN ASABA, DELTA STATE ON THURSDAY 23RD FRIDAY 24TH OF FEBRUARY, 2012.

COMMUNIQUE
The NUJ zone F held its meeting in Asaba Delta State on 23rd-24th February, 2012. The meeting which was presided over by the vice president of the zone, Comrade Pius Ede alongwith other officials of the zone
reso)ved as follows:
1. That State councils to embark on a serious enlightenment exercise to sensitize their members to subscribe to the NUJ insurance policy so as to benefit from the huge investment the union had made in the scheme.
2. That council ensures that only registered, eligible and financial members are allowed to benefit from the union’s welfare scheme
3. That any council which embarks henceforth in spending the scare resources of the union to cater for the welfare, problems of unregistered members, would be seriously sanctioned.
4. That based on creditable performance in the past three years, a vote of confidence has been passed on the national and zone F leadership of the union.
5. That the federal government should expedite action in the construction of East West Road, especially, the section with the south-south zone which has become impassable as the rain set in.
6. That the governors in the South-South zone have been commanded for the effort to empower the state in the zone through the BRACED commission and urged the state government to implement the recommendations of the commission for the benefit of their people.
7 That the River state government should be commended for its effort to build a befitting secretariat for the State Council which headquarters and asked other state government to ensure Councils operate in a conducive and comfortable environment.
8 That journalists in the zone should display high sense of professionalism while performing their duties especially when reporting political activities in their respective states so as not to be used as sycophant by politicians and government
The zone condemns the activities of the Boko Haram sect and along other terrorists group in the country and encourage the police and other security agencies to rise up to the challenge.
The zone commends the Delta State Government for its support and assistance which has resulted to peace, stability and progress within the State Council of the NUJ.
