NFF GOOF, Sets league Date Against FIFA Instruction

The Nigeria Football Federation is at it again, this time the Nigeria football management body is daring the world football governing body FIFA.
FIFA has instructed that no member (country) should play any competitive football when the continent is playing its nations cup.
Against, this instruction, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has fixed its new football season of 2012/2013 when the Africa cup of nations will start on the 9th of that same month.
Nations Cup starts on 9th of January, while the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) will kick off on the 7th of January 2013 which is a gross contrast of what FIFA has directed all FIFA footballing nations to adhere to.
Nigeria may face FIFA ban if the plan of the football season holds as slated on 7th January, 2013.
Timing itself is wrong because while players of the domestic league are sweating it out in the pitch, their colleagues are sweating it out in representing their father land (Nigeria) at the continent football competition.
It will deprive the home based players from watching their country playing other Africa countries.
It will also not show regards and unity as the two competitions could not run parallel at the same time.
The decision of the NFF in slating that date is to cause confusion. We therefore hope that one day the date will be changed, for the league to start on a more clean arrangement where all and sundry will be part of it.
Only time will tell of the Nigeria situation, even the league will start with a title sponsorship. May GLO just come to the aid of the Nigeria Football Federation to normalize the already ugly situation. ####
