Asarama Cult Clash: Chairman Dissolves 2 CDC Factions

The People of Asarama community in the Andoni Local Government Area are again living in fear of the unknown on who becomes the Chairman, Community Development Committee of the community, following the disbandment of the two existing parallel ones

The disbandment of the Asarama, CDC, by the Executive Chairman of Andoni Local Government Council, Hon. Orom Nte Ereforokuma was sequel to the renewed cult wars that was said to have claimed about eight lives in the area.

The alleged insurgent groups, Icelands and MEND that attacked each other between May and June 2013 wasted several lives which  included one Atailuk Godslove and seven others.

The Council Chairman, while intervening strategy, disbanded the respective CDC’s led by Mr. Ndedeng Atagwung and Engr. Inye Nathaniel, as well as their youth wings led by one Apporon Owupele and Mr. Johnson Ekene respectively.

The Newswriter gathered that the youth group led by Mr. Johnson Ekene was loyal to the CDC government led by Engr. Inye Nathaniel while that of Apporon Owupelle was subject to the CDC of Ndedeng Atagwung.

The Newswriter gathered that both factional leaders have agreed to the chairman’s position but wondered where the council chairman would manufacture a neutral candidate to man the Asarama community affairs.

This, the supporters of Engr. Nathaniel’s led faction of the community CDC, whose according to them, their acceptance of the chairman’s verdict on disbandment was total opined that though the clergies are not completely neutral, they may be the alternative option at the moment, while the struggle for peace continues.

Speaking further on the issue, The Newswriter’s source said all indigenous pastors of Asarama are not ignorant and innocent of the community’s crisis but might be cautious on the fact that they are supposed to be role models and truth bearers to enthrone peace in any community whatsoever.

The source, however, called on the chairman, Hon. Orom not to compromise his position for peace and allow his reputation, stance and integrity to be trampled upon by anyone whatsoever in the interest of posterity.

It also called on the chairman to use his mandate for random selection of the CDC and youth wing to enthrone a lasting peace in Asarama and Andoni in general. This, the source said posterity would remember him for when he leaves office. ###
