PDP Crisis: Party Disowns Ex-Commissioner, Sara-Igbe

SARA-IGBEThe Rivers State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lampooned the former Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Water Resources, Hon. Lolo Ibieneye and a Niger Delta activist, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe for making unnecessary utterances against the party.

This was contained in a statement the party sent to this weekly on Tuesday. According to the party, Hon. Ibieneye was a former chieftain of the PDP before he defected to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The statement which was signed by the state party’s secretary Chief Ibibia O. Walter, the party said, “since the ACN merged into the APC, he (Ibieneye) is yet to come back to the PDP neither has he indicated his interest to do so”.

The PDP scribe said, “His counterpart in this satanic mission, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe is better known as a commentator on Niger Delta issues and a resident of Delta State than a member of the PDP or any political party.

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to state categorically that, Hon. Lolo Tamunoemi Ibieneye and Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe are not members of the PDP.

The statement further described that there is no division in Rivers PDP, adding that “the party in the state has irrevocably come back to life since its erstwhile leader, and the state governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC)”.

The party secretary accused the governor of funding persons and groups to destabilize the PDP in the state.

The statement reads in part: “There is no gainsaying the fact that Governor Amaechi, like a wounded lion is not leaving any stone unturned and is doing everything possible including financial inducement in making sure that the unity of purpose, cohesion, and high spirit of the Bro. Felix Obuah leadership that characterize the state chapter of our great party is arrested to actualize his dream to sell off the state to the opposition as a way of hitting back at President Goodluck Jonathan and the Supervising Minister for Education, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike whom he holds responsible for his political woes.” ###
