Reclaim Oronija Community Now, MCA Appeals to RSG, NDDC

The Rivers State Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC have been called upon to urgently embark on the reclamation of Oronija Community in the Andoni Local Government Area, as some section of that Community is about to be submerged by flood.

The Men Christian Association, MCA of the Anglican Communion, Andoni Archdeaconry made the call in the just concluded conference of the body held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Oronija.

It would be recalled that indigenes of Oronija Community were once visited earlier this year by the distinguished Senator Magnus Abe on the same disaster, now it has come again occasion by the high tide.

The MCA in a ten point communiqué issued at the end of the conference and made available to The Newswriter, while sympathizing with the people on the predicament that befell them urged the community leaders to genuinely seek the face of God and charged all fathers to be honest, transparent, tolerant and peaceful in all transactions in their homes, positing that fathers should be the priest, teachers and directors of the affairs of their respective homes.

The Conference which sees fathers as imitators of God also reminded them of their responsibility of not only caring for their immediate families but to equally exhibit an unalloyed love and care for their Wives, Children, the church and the society at large to fulfill the commandments of God.

The MCA, which comprises men of goodwill in all sectors of life enjoins the Fathers to seek the Ark of God in order to restore peace to Rivers State and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as well as elected new officers to synergise the development of the organization and Anglican Communion at large.

Those elected to pilot the business of the MCA for the next 3 years are Chief (Hon.) U.J.H Offong as Vice President; Chief Lot B. Egweteng, Gen. Secretary and Mr. G.O Mordecai as Treasurer. Others are Thompson Olakayi, Financial Secretary, Richard Moses Publicity Secretary, Osunju Ikwut, Provost; Bright Cleopas, Organizing/welfare Secretary; while David Minini and HRH Bartholomew I. Egopyork, serves as auditors and Chief Kingston F. P. Urum and Theophilus Owo are ex-officio members.

However, in a sermon to end the conference, the Archdeacon of Andoni Archdeaconry and President of the MCA, Ven. A.A. Ogbidor had called on the Christian men to wake up and assume their respective responsibilities by taking charge of their families and communities as directed by God to avoid the wrath of God.

Ven. Ogbidor appealed strongly to Fathers who had abandoned or denied their Children to immediately go and get such Children back, while reminding them of the anger of God against abandoning His gift.

In his speech, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chief Kingston F. P. Urum thanked God for the successful conduct of Conference while expressing his joy for the impressive turn out and appealed for more attendance as conference holds at Our Saviours Ajakajak next year.

Highlights of the 3 days conference were Bible exposition, crusade, talk on the theme: the Caring Father and donation of a set of canopy to the hosting church.

Meanwhile, the Vice President, Chief U. J. H. Offong has said that the current administration shall focus on the work of evangelism across the Parishes and Stations in the Archdeaconry and urged all to be prepared for the task ahead, saying that without winning souls to God, man’s duty on earth will be all in futility.###
