Ebola: Adhere To Hygienic Precaution

MAGNUS ABEThe Lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Magnus Abe has urged Nigerians to adhere to recommended hygienic precautions aimed at preventing the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus as search for a permanent solution continues.

The Senator, who stated this in Port Harcourt, disclosed that investigation reveals that transmission, which is not limited to the living, is passed through bodily organs and fluids such as blood, urine, semen and vomit.

He identified limiting body contact, visiting medical centre on experiencing symptoms, engaging in regular, thorough hand hygiene procedures among others as preventive strategies.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), who cautioned on politicizing the Ebola issue, praised the commitment of government at various level to eradicating the scourge.

Senator Abe particularly lauded the proactive and dogged approach of the Rivers State government, which resulted to the swiftness in tackling the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the State.

He expressed optimizing that with the collaborative steps and consciousness being created the virus that has ravaged some West African Countries shattering the socio-economic well being of the people will be checked.
