Re-run: Ex-RSHA Assembly Speaker Weeps …Campaign Director, 300 Supporters Defect …Dr. Dawari George Moves On

dawariThe former speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree is now weeping profusely following the sudden defection of his campaign director, Chief Lavenda R. Long-John to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Chief Long John who defected to PDP recently had also pulled out no fewer than 300 supporters of the ex-speakers.
Hon. Dan Amachree is currently eyeing the National Assembly to represent the people of the Rivers West Senatorial District. The ex- speaker developed a sudden headache and fever when he heard that Chief Long-John has abandoned him for PDP.
The defection of Chief Long-John and other supporters had placed the already confused former legislator on the cross-road whether to step down or to go ahead with his National Assembly ambition.
Hon. Dan Amachree was in the Rivers State House of Assembly for 16 years representing Asalga constituency 1, and Chief Long-John has been a veritable political tool to his (ex-speaker) success in politics.
The defection of the Campaign Director is giving the ex-speaker a sleepless night. Sources informed this weekly that Dan-Amachree is running helter-skelter, and pillar to post. With the current political confusion the ex-parliamentarian is going through it appears that he would not scale through in the March 19, re-run election.
Speaking during his defection, the former campaign manager of the ex-speaker pointed out that the All Progressives Congress, APC has nothing to offer. He said politicians in APC are bereft of ideas and knowledge on how to develop the state.
Chief Long-John advised all and sundry who are still in APC to move to the PDP, wherein lies the freedom of Rivers people.
Meanwhile the Akulga/Asalga federal constituency candidate on the platform of APC, Dr. Dawari George is leading in the opinion poll conducted by our political correspondent.
From the information, we gathered if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC conducts a free and fair elections, Dr. George will beat his opponent; Boma Goodhead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP hands down.
With the ongoing political activities across the length and the breadth of the constituency, Boma Goodhead has no option than to step down for Dr. George who is gentle and more sincere than any of the contestants.
Boma Goodhead has already been rejected by several political groups in the constituency. “Boma Goodhead is going nowhere; Comrade George Warmate, a youth activist told our correspondent.
Comrade Warmate blasted Boma for her insincerity and nonchalant attitude towards the members of the Akulga/Asalga federal constituency during her brief stay in the National Assembly.
He called on the people of the constituency not to vote for her in the day of the re-run, adding that she has nothing to offer.
Comrade Warmate maintained that Dr. George is the real man for the job, pointing out that Dr. George has been tested and proven.
His words, “Dr. Dawari George has all what it takes to represent the Akulga/Asalga constituency. He is well educated and intelligent. Boma Goodhead is a half baked, and has nothing to do in the National Assembly. ###
