NUJ RE-INAUGURATES THE NEWSWRITER CHAPEL

The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Rivers State Council led by Comrade Paul Bazia -Nsaneh, on the 8th of  September, 2025, inaugurated the News Writer chapel with a charge to be professional in their reportage.

He said the News Writer chapel has set a pace in fulfilling the constitutional provisions.

“They showed strength during the revalidation exercise, came out in their numbers and also paid professional fees” he said.

The Chairman said the Council under his watch will ensure that chapels conduct their elections and urged chapels who are yet to conduct their elections to do so.

This information is contained in a report by Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, Secretary, NUJ Rivers State Council.

Bazia-Nsaneh recalled that during the last National election of NUJ the delegates from Rivers State were reduced due to reduction of chapels from the last revalidation of chapels exercise where some chapels were not able to participate, a situation he described as worrisome.

Those inaugurated to lead the Chapel are Chairman, Beauty Nteugot, Vice Chairman – Dr. Modestus Ajero, and Secretary – Owunari Nathan Brown Akoko.

Others are, Assistant Secretary- Ibifuro George , Treasurer – Dr. Patrick Cooky, Financial Secretary –  Prudence O. Wokoma and Auditor – Ben Owen Asuk

Highlights of the event were a minute of silence observed in honour of late Baridon Sika of Radio Rivers.***
