The rift between the chiefs and youths of Ibaka clan in the Okrika Local Government Area over employment chances on the road and bridge construction work linking Port Harcourt and Okrika have been laid to rest following a peace deal to accommodate all interest.
The youths of Ibaka clan had accused their clan chiefs of highhandedness as well as hijacking the employment opportunities arising from the said project, but peace is said to have returned as the pump and sell dredger gets ready to commence operations.
The Newswriter gathered that the dredger had been in Okrika since August but was halted by the outgoing caretaker administration led by Tammy George on account of the misunderstanding amongst the respective parties.
Another reason adduced for halting operations by the dredger was centered on environmental hazards and degradation of vehicular routes, but the Ibaka clan are opposed to the reason describing peddlers of such reason as enemies of Ibaka clan and resolve to harmonize their differences to enable operation and commencement of the job. ###
