Kalabari IYC Cautioned Against Political Violence… Applauds Eradiri, Jaja

The chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council IYC, Kalabari Sekpangi, Prince Comrade Sobrasua Odum has called on the youths of the area not to involve in political violence now that the 2015 general election is fast approaching. Prince Odum who made the call while exchanging views with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday, said that violence is bad and pleaded with the youths to shun any act that is capable of causing crisis in the Kalabari land.

The Kalabari IYC Chief further appealed to the youths of the community to throw their weight behind the second term ambition of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015.

The IYC chairman said that the time has come for the Ijaws to give all necessary support to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Jonathan so that the coast will be cleared for him to continue in office beyond 2015. He commended the good works preformed by President Jonathan, expressing hope that his second term in office will elevate the country to greater heights.

Prince Odum had earlier praised the National President of IYC, Comrade Udengs Eradiri describing him as “a man of the right vision and mission”. According to him Comrade Eradiri leadership would ensure total youths empowerment in Ijaw nation, and expressed confidence on the leadership style of the National President of IYC.

The Kalabari IYC boss further thanked Comrade Eradiri for following strictly the constitution of the IYC, and prayed God to give him King Solomon’s wisdom to pilot the affairs of the council to the Promised Land.

Prince Odum who is currently serving his second term in office lauded some prominent leaders of Ijaw nation namely: Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, Amb. Soboma Jackrich, alias Egberipapa, Comrade Farah Dagogo and several others. He pointed out that their ideas have uplifted the activities of the IYC in the region. Prince Odum who further commended the Legal Adviser of the IYC, Barr. Ekine Egbelekuro, promised that he would ensure total empowerment amongst the youths of the community.

The Kalabari IYC chairman also thanked Comrade Iyerifama Godswill Jaja, the zonal chairman, Eastern IYC for job well done. He maintained that Comrade Jaja has all what it takes to take IYC to the next level.

Prince Odum, however blasted some of the elders who want to cause confusion in the area, saying that the major responsibility of the elders is to play advising roles and not to impose individuals on the leadership of IYC. He advised them to concentrate on their constitutional responsibilities, and not to cause unnecessary tension in the IYC Kalabari clan. ###
