Unpaid Salaries: Wike To Settle Timariv Workers

The Rivers state government is poised to settle once and for all the problem of nonpayment of the backlog of salaries owed members of TIMARIV by the administration of former governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

TIMARIV was a local traffic agency established by the then administration to ease the gridlock traffic problem in the state capital but was disbanded by the government of Chief Nyesom Wike on grounds of existing irregularities.

Responding to a peaceful demonstration embarked upon by members of the agency, the state governor, through his special adviser on media, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, expressed his understanding of the rationale behind the protest by members of the disbanded TIMARIV.

Notwithstanding, Opunabo assured the protesting workers that “the governor is a very sensitive man and will do something to palliate the asperities occasioned by the non-payment of their salaries.”
