Rivers Civil Servants Worry Over Usurp Of Duties

The Nigeria Civil Service Union in Rivers State has called on the Governor Rotimi Amaechi, to stop his Commissioner for hijacking the jobs of the civil servants.

Ambassador Lilly-West (JP), the state chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) Rivers State Council, said that the Rivers State Commissioners under Rotimi Amaechi came with some aides and consultants that are earning fat more than the civil servants. He said that the politicians have taken away the job of the civil servants, “as I am talking to you in the Mnistry of Environment and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Special Assistants to the Honourable Commissioners have taken over the duties of the administrative officers and directors.

I remember in those days the civil servants were the engine room of the civil service, the politicians are the problems of the civil service today, they have politicized the whole civil service for self interest.

Amb. Lilly-West (JP) stated that the Special Assistants and the Special Advisers including the consultants to the office of the commissioners are paid more than civil servants.

“Our vision is to build a vibrant society that will protect the interest of our members,” Lilly West said.###
