13% Derivation Ex-Agitator Threatens War if …

A front line youth activist in the Niger Delta region, Prince Franklin E. A. Amachree has expressed displeasure the way and the method in which the Nigerian state is handling the 13 percent derivation fund in the region.

Speaking to our reporter in Port Harcourt on Monday, Prince Amachree threatened that the country would boil if the 13% derivation fund is not upwardly reviewed. He said that the Niger Delta region has contributed much to the development of the nation, adding that anything short of 50% derivation, the region would not be happy.

Prince Amachree who is also the national president of the Movement For The Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality In The Niger Delta (MOSIEND) called on the delegates to the National confab not to treat the issue with kids’ gloves.

“We went into the creeks to agitate for total resource control, despite the amnesty offered by the Yar’Adua’s administration. Anything below 50% derivation is a embarrasment on those who participated in the Niger Delta struggle, and also those who lost their lives during the struggle,” Prince Amachree said. Prince Amachree is also a Marshal of Kirimani, an advocate of the Niger Delta struggle and total resource control.

He has earlier called on President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to recontest in 2015, and applauded him for his various development strides.

According to him, any attempt by any section of the country not to allow President Jonathan to recontest in 2015, the country is bound to face catastrophe that will be difficult to control.

He called on all well meaning Nigerians to throw their weight behind the President to recontest the 2015 general election, “so that he (President Jonathan) will continue with his Transformation Agenda to actualize the dreams of the founding fathers of Nigeria”. ###
