Court Strikes Out Suit Against OBALGA CTC

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has ruled in favour of the Rivers State Government on the extension of tenure of the Caretaker Committee of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The Chikordi Dike-led Caretaker Committee was appointed by Governor Chibuike Amaechi following the suspension of the chairman, Prince Timothy Nsirim, his Deputy, Solomon Eke and 17 councillors on April 22, 2013, by the State House of Assembly.

Ruling on the case on Monday, H. Nganjiwa, struck out the suit by the plaintiffs. Concerned lawyers of Obio/Akpor Extraction, had challenged the extension of the committee’s tenure after the three months expiration of its tenure. ####
