Imo Palm Plantation: Manager Escapes Death, As Ezi-ada’s Celebrate With Family

The newly elevated Project Manager of Imo Palm Plantation, Ohaji, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State said he had escaped death in the hands of the unknown along Avu/Ohaji Road.

The event is coming barely one month of the elevation of Mr. Ohiri Godwin to his new position, but could not stop Ohuba Daughters Association (Ezi-Ada) who prior to the incident had concluded to celebrate with their son, Mr. Ohiri on his elevation.

Speaking on the incident, Mr. Ohiri dismissed the agitation of some persons at different quarters of the establishment, saying that his recent positions as the P. M., would have been theirs. affirming that those clamoring for the position had in the recent past received several queries on mismanagement and corruption, when he has not received any, from the time of his engagement, he added.

He further lamented on the death threats emanating from some top management staff of Imo Palm, saying that he would either leave his new position “dead or alive”. The new Project Manager wondered what he must have done to anyone to plan of taking his life as witnessed in the incident that took place last week, just one 1km away from Avu Junction, off PH-Owerri Road, Imo State, to attend to an emergency office assignment in his office at Imo Palm.

Mr. Ohiri told the media in his home town, Ohuba in Ohaji Egbema LGA, Imo State on Sunday 2nd June 2013 that the mystery of how he escaped from the hands of those he wouldn’t know if to be called assassins or kidnappers, but to be best known to God. He confirmed a Camry car trailing his back, but shocked when another camry overtook and blocked his front, while the other blocked by the side, adding that he could not comprehend on how he escaped from that terrible situation.

Godwin, who played host to Ohuba Daughters Association (Ezi-Ada), described the visit as coincidence, having scheduled to pay him a visit on his recent elevation, before that incident. He told the Daughters of Ohuba that their visit was destined by God and the reason he never allowed the will of his detractors to be accomplished. Ohiri, who narrated his ordeal in the hands of the unknown, urged Ezi-Adas’ to continue in unity and never allow the association to be used by person(s) to achieve personal or selfish gains. He advised them to only keep their impress account with the treasure and ensure that their monies are properly paid into their account, pointing money as one serious factor that could cause great confusion in an organization and possibly brought such organization to its end of existence and promised to continue to identify with them.

In the same vein, Mrs. Pauline Dike, Chairperson/President of Ohuba Daughters Association (Ezi-Ada), noted that the association is a socio-cultural group, made up of women that are born and married in Ohuba land, with the vision of ensuring peace and stability in the community. She expressed gratitude to God, Imo State Government and the management of Imo Palm, Roche Agric for the appointment of an Ohuba son, in the person of Mr. Ohiri Godwin Ikenna as the Project Manager, in the history of Imo Palm Plantation, adding that their visit was to give double glory to God for the elevation and protection of their son from the hands of  unknown.

She used the occasion of their visit to call on Mr. Ohiri to ensure carrying all the Land Lords, which include, Ohaji, Egbema and Agwa, along; while some members of the association who sang to the glory of God, requested the Project Manager to also extend that recognition that has been given to other women in the area to the Ezi-Ada of Ohuba.

However, Mr. Joseph Ohiri “Apex Leader” in Ohuba and the Campaign Director to Comrade Thomas Ekeh, the President of Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council, in the last Council election, expressed gratitude to God for the life and recent promotion of Mr. Godwin, affirming that his wealth of experience in the business of Imo Palm will be brought to bear.

The Project Manager however, commenced the strides of Governor Rochas Okorocha, particularly in the areas of peace and security amongst Communities in the state, reassuring the youths of Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council of his readiness to fulfill his promises to them to the later.

Allow Me To work, Jonathan Tells Opposition, PDP President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has told opposition members and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP splinter group to allow him concentrate and work for the people of Nigeria. He noted that the current political impasse are deliberately orchestrated to distract the administration’s ongoing transformation agenda in the critical sectors of the economy. President Jonathan also gave a veiled insight into his second term ambition stressing that the Nigerian Constitution provides a two term of eight years only for anyone elected as president. Nigerian Constitution Mandates Me To Run For Two Terms Says President Jonathan. Speaking at a lunch with Nigerian Professionals in New York, United States (US), Mr. Jonathan urged those fanning the ember of disintegration in the country to refrain from doing so as the interests of Nigeria is greater than that of any individual. According to him “already we have a constitution that makes provision for maximum of eight years for anyone who wants to become a president or a governor. There is no president or governor that all citizens vote for but at the end of the election if somebody emerges you must allow the person to work. If you love your country you would want your country to work. That does not mean that you will not vote against the person if you don’t like the way he works but you must allow him to work”. Mr. Jonathan urged the political class in the country to drop the do or die approach to politics urging them to allow him concentrate on his core mandate of governance. In an apparent reference to the political crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the tantrum been thrown around by the opposition parties in the country, the president said political leaders in the country must be mindful of what they say or do in order not to undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria. According to Mr.Jonathan “we appeal to our colleagues politicians that no matter how you feel about the political situation consider the interest of your country first before yourself”. He added “if you are struggling to enter a house you must not put dynamite to destroy the house. By the time you get there there will be no house for you to stay. So first and foremost we must collectively build our country. Don’t bother about who is there now because power is transient, very very temporary”. On whether his administration was doing enough to tackle the issue of corruption in Nigeria, the president said “so many people are saying we are not doing well in fighting corruption and before you say that, there must be a parameter for judging us. What are the yardsticks they are using to judge us?” Justifying the efforts of his government in addressing the problem of corruption Mr. Jonathan said before the advent of his government, the Federal Government was spending a whopping N25 billion on fertiliser with only a 11 percent reach to the farmers stressing that since the coming on board of his administration, “government now spends between N5-6 Billion on fertiliser and we are getting 80 per cent reach. If we wanted to continue to steal money or look for money for election, we could have continued”. In the area of privatisation of power sector, he said the government conducted the over $3 billion exercise in the most transparent manner. “Yes we have not yet reached where we want to reach but we are making progress,” he said. Mr. Jonathan told the august gathering that his administration has made significant progress in the area revival of rail transportation, aviation, road construction and other infrastructure. “The team that I am working with we are doing our best to make sure that our country works”.
