NPL Kicks-Off At Last

The much anticipated Nigeria Professional Football League has finally kicked off on the slated 9th of March, 2013 in various centres.

The league has started with Debutants, Nembe City Football Club of Nembe, from Bayelsa State beat league leader Heartland 2-1 in the opening game.

Other surprising results are Dolphins losing to Akwa Ibom, Enyimba lose to Rangers Football Club at home while Bayelsa United that just returned to the league beat Lobi Stars 1-0 in  Yenagoa, their home ground.

Here in Port Harcourt, home team, Sharks has started the league on a winning note, beating Warri wolves 2-1 while Dolphins has started the league in a losing note.

Other results are Sunshine-Kaduna United 0, 3sc 2 – Gombe 0, Warri Tourist  0 Kano Pillars 1, Nassarawa United 0, El-kanemi Warrior 0, ABS 0, Kwara United in week 1 in the 2012/2013 Nigeria football season.

It would be recalled that former Nigeria premier league board chairman, Chief Rumson Victor Baribote had earlier vowed that there will be no NPL kick off date till the case he brought against the interim board that sacked him is concluded. He stressed that he is still the chairman of the league board, claiming that his removal from office is illegal.
